Puppets and Humans Mix In Canterbury Tales at Arts on the Lake

A newly adapted version of Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales” will be presented at Arts on the Lake, 640 Route 52, Lake Carmel, Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, at 8 pm and Sunday, April 21, at 3 pm. Using puppets created by artist Mary Schreiber and a text by writer Jen Gazzo, “The Nun's Priest's Tale,” “The Pardoner's Tale” and “The Wife of Bath's Tale” will be enacted by a cast of 24 puppets ranging in size from six inches to seven feet and a cast of 12 actor/operators. Press Release: Kersting To Lead Writing Memoir Workshop

The third in Arts on the Lake’s 2013 Community Workshops will be “Writing Memoir” led by Tom Kersting on Sunday, April 14, 3 – 5 pm at the Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52, in Kent. “These two-hour Sunday workshops are opportunities to practice an art form with other members of the community with similar interests,” said AotL’s Executive Director James Shearwood. Read full press release

36 Baskets in Rotary Basketball Shootout

Nicholas Santise made 36 baskets at the CARMEL ROTARY COMMUNITY BASKETBALL SHOOTOUT on Saturday, March 16, to raise funds for Arts on the Lake. CHS Grad to Shoot Hoops for AOTL

2012 Carmel High School graduate Nicholas Santise will shoot hoops to raise funds for Arts on the Lake at the CARMEL ROTARY COMMUNITY BASKETBALL SHOOTOUT on Sat, Mar 16. Santise is known to many as one of the summer employees of Scoops in Carmel, an ice cream parlor of which his mother, Theresa Santise of Kent, is the proprietor. If you would like to shoot hoops for this fund-raising effort organized by the Carmel Rotary Club yourself, click here for the entry form and instructions. Call for Auditions for The Canterbury Tales

Auditions for the Puppet Group's Canterbury Tales have been announced for Monday, February 4. The Directors are currently seeking actors and voice actors, 18 years or older, both men and women, to audition for these roles. The position of wardrobe designer/manager is also open. Actor/teacher Lora Lee Ecobelli will inaugurate the 2013 Community Workshops at Arts on the Lake, 640 Route 52, Lake Carmel, with “Discovering the Actor Inside” on Sunday, January 13, 3-5 pm. “These monthly workshops in the various arts are offered to the community at nominal charge ($5 for the general public, free to students) to expand participation in all the arts,” said Executive Director James Shearwood.
