Studio to Wall: The Commerce of Art : The Second Session

Saturdays, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Jan 31 – Feb 21

4 weeks

Class coming soon to Arts on the Lake

New Session Starts in January

Studio to Wall: The Commerce of Art, will begin January 31. A four session course, taught by Tony Carretta, this class provides students with in depth understanding of the real world hurdles artists encounter in their pursuit of having their art work shown to the public.

Mr. Carretta, a successful artist whose works are in many prominent institutions including the Smithsonian Institute, also owns, New Arts Gallery in Litchfield Ct.  He is keenly aware of the difficulties artists face trying to have their work shown in commercial galleries.

Building upon his course taught last Spring, participants will review and expand upon the basic themes of Presentation, Principles and Ethics, found in his recently published book.

The course has been restructured to provide a greater emphasis how artists present their works through their portfolios and web sites. Students will examine the quality and importance of both. New students will receive a copy of the book.

You do not need to have taken the previous course in order to gain valuable knowledge and participate in the lively discussions as you focus upon, what is essentially a blue print for navigating the commercial art world. Carretta’s intent is to provide participants a new perspective about themselves and to have them see how success can happen for them if we do the “right” things.

Carretta writes a blog, Studio2Wall where many of these ideas are discussed.

The class has four sessions of 3 hours each and will be on Saturdays from 10-1 pm. Sessions are Jan 31, Feb 7, 14 and 21.

Tuition: $300.00  Public
  $270.00  Members
