Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Friends of Classical Music Event

Sponsored by Joseph DiVestea of Merrill Lynch

Virtuoso violinist Eric Grossman returns to Arts on the Lake for the final event in the 2015 Friends of Classical Music Series, which is open to all. The performance is made possible in part by a donation from Joseph DiVestea of the The DiVestea Group with Merrill Lynch.

A graduate of Juilliard, and praised in The New York Times as a "brilliant soloist," violinist Eric Grossman has been hailed for his flawless technique, superb musicianship and commitment to a wide range of repertoire. Mr. Grossman will be accompanied on piano by his wife, Lida Lopez Mancheva.

Mr. Grossman will be playing a diverse set of works including pieces by Paganini, Ysaye, Sarasate, Kreisler, and Sinding. Of special note is the Schubert/Ernst work, "Der Erlkonig," for solo violin and voice. This piece, which sets text from a disturbing Goethe poem depicting the death of a child by a supernatural being, is considered one of the most difficult violin solos to play. Eleven year old, Misha Grossman, who sings in the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus, will join his parents for this piece.

Performing at AotL on Lake Carmel, 640 Route 52, Kent Lakes, the event will provide the audience a rare opportunity to experience this superb musician in an intimate seating arrangement.

This event replaces the previously announced Alexander String Quartet, which had to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
