Portraiture - An exploration of our faces.

Monday, November 20, 2023 at 7:00 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Still Time to Join for Session 2. Video of Session 1 available.

Portraiture - Our face: the ultimate image that allows for expression, mood, and the endless adjectives that describe who we are, has been a constant and primary subject of humanity's artistic interests. It offers the first and ultimate information of our emotional conditions. This class explores this most personal of subjects.

Humanity, the definition of our existence, is and has been the core of our engrossment in digging deep into its discoveries by art exploration.

The mirror, the biographies and auto-biographies, and our care and reaction of how we figure in other people’s eyes: masks, make-up, today’s plastic surgery, mug shots, representative portraits in photography, sculpture and painting, our innate curiosity of what people looked-like in history, all are but testaments as to the importance of portraiture, reading traits of goodness and tragedy, how we recognize the seemingly endless descriptive variety of adjectives of feelings in the architecture of visage compels us to pass judgement, to fulfill our curiosities.

This class aims to present how we have perused this most personal subject along the avenue of historical art, internationally, in all times of our existence up to now.

This class series is provided on the Zoom platform. Sessions are on Monday evenings at 7 PM and are between 1 to  1 1/2 hours. Links are provided on the day of the sessions. Each session is recorded and participants receive the links of all the series classes.
