Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 6:30 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

An Enchanted Blade Films production

Part of Arts on the Lake's mission is to encourage the arts in our student community. We assisted the Carmel High School Film Club by offering space to film in and equipment to use if we had it.  We are very proud to have the premier at the Art Center as this is truly a community event.

Please come and support our young film makers.

Arts on the Lake is proud to be the site of the premier screening of the Legends of the Gallowglass, July 22, with the event beginning at 6:30 and the screening beginning at 8 PM.

The film has deep roots in the Carmel community. A feature-length fantasy film, it was written and directed by Tim Bohrman and Porter Durkee, with Jennifer Chan as the Executive Producer. All three are former Carmel High School graduates, who are now in enrolled in 3 different prestigious film programs of study. The 37 cast and 35 crew members, who were a part of this production, are primarily from the Carmel area and have continued working together over the 3 years it has taken to make the film. Primarily shot on location in the Hudson Valley and featuring picturesque vistas, caverns, and castles, the film tells a story of the Kingdom of Scrofar, a Sorceress Naavessek, and those who discover, build, and break the bonds of blood and family.

Bohrman, Durkee and Chan started the film production and consultancy company Enchanted Blade Films in fall 2020, with Legends of the Gallowglass, or LoG, as their first project. Not only have they had continued efforts from the many involved in the making of the film over the three years, they have also had wide spread support from the Carmel community. In particular, many individuals have provided funding, equipment, costumes, knowledge, and access to their private lands. LoG also enjoys the support of Carmel High School, and individuals from SUNY Purchase College School of Film and Media Studies, the Ithaca College Park School of Communications, and the Emerson College Film and Media Studies program. Arts on the Lake has supported the creation of this film by supporting the Carmel High School Film Club, and offering its facilities for production.

The event begins at 6:30 with light refreshments, and a chance to meet with supporters and those involved in the production. Attendees are encouraged to wear formal or your best medieval tunic!

A Food Truck will also be providing dinner options for purchase. The showing of the film begins at 8 PM. The public is encouraged to attend and support the arts in the Carmel/Kent community. Admission is free, though donations will be encouraged.
