Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 4:00 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

First Prize Winner of the 2023 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition

Performing with her equally accomplished 16 year old sister, violinist, Fiona.

With great pleasure we present Hina Khuong-Huu, already an accomplished artist at 18 years of age with her equally accomplished sister, violinist, Fiona Khuong-Huu, aged 16.

Together and as soloists, virtuosic sisters Hina and Fiona Khuong-Huu dazzle audiences around the globe. Hina, first prize-winner of the 2023 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition, currently studies with Li Lin and Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School, while also attending Columbia University through their double degree program.

Fiona, first prize-winner of the 2017 Grumiaux Competition, also studies with Li Lin, as well as with Kenneth Renshaw and Stella Chen, at the Juilliard School Pre-College while attending the Spence School in New York City, from which Hina graduated in 2022.

Both have appeared as soloists with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, Musica Mundi, and Mitteleuropa Orchestra, with the Chamber Orchestra of Geneva and Juilliard Orchestras rounding out their individual lists. In 2019, they were invited to perform at Buckingham Palace, where they played Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins with Maxim Vengerov and Marios Papadopoulos, and in 2018, they performed Sarasate’s Navarra at Juilliard’s Pre-College Centennial Gala, later reprising this work at the Bozar Concert Hall in Brussels with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra.

They have appeared on NPR’s From the Top on multiple occasions and were recipients of the prestigious career grant award from Salon De Virtuosi. Recently, Hina was named a “Rising Star” by the Violin Channel and has worked with renowned artists such as Grammy award-winner Jennifer Koh in her “Alone Together” series. Additionally, Fiona was the recipient of the 2022 Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund and won third prize and best virtuoso interpretation at the 2019 Louis Spohr Competition.
