A Six Part Virtual Lecture Series

If you have signed up and have not received a link prior to 6:30 please text Ed Durkee at 845 803 1592.

There is today a general consensus that “Modern Art”, as a specific movement that mirrored the miraculous and powerful changes of the industrial and political revolutions welcoming us into a new world, has turned its course.

It welcomed a new current age of mass-communication and scientific awareness by adventurous and inventive artists. Given that traditionally art has served as a beacon and a mirror revealing and commenting on our human progress, artists today have created an array of grand gestures encompassing new inventions and attitudes.

They present us with a kaleidoscopic variety of seemingly miraculous theaters of aesthetic illusions and intriguing concepts, some humble, some grand. This class will reveal and explain the intents and methods used by these intrepid explorers of new aesthetics in the last 30 years or so. It is an amazingly varied and exciting time artistically, when there are no “isms” nor manifestos to follow, but the result of unbridled subjective imaginative creations using the latest technological inventions and laying the groundwork for what promises to be a more than exciting future.

This six part series will be presented via the Zoom platform on Monday evenings at 7 PM.  The dates are: Sept 14, Sept 21, Sept 28, Oct 5, Oct 12, Oct 19. A Link will be sent to the email associated with the purchase on the day of the lecture prior to 6 PM. Please contact Ed Durkee at office@artsonthelake.org if you have any questions.
