2 Film Sessions and Panel discussion

September 1st-4th the Village of Brewster Film Festival will take place in a number of locations in Putnam County. Now in its fifth year, the festival continues to grow with films, shorts and animations being submitted from around the world. Arts on the Lake welcomes being one of the venues and will show films both Saturday, September 3rd, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and Sunday September 4th, 12:45 - 5:00 pm.

 

 

Tickets are $7 for Saturday and for each of the 2 sessions on Sunday. They are available at the door or through the VOB  home page

The films being shown on Sunday at AotL are listed below. There are 2 different sessions, ticketed separately. Links to purchase tickets for the sessions are listed after the film listing below.

 

A Panel Discussion will follow the showing of the films.

 

Sunday Session I:  12:45 - 2:45


No Letting Go
, directed and written by Jonathan Bucari and based on the award-winning short film Illness, tells the story of a young teenager struggling with a debilitating mental illness as his mom risks everything to save him without losing the rest of her family.

 

Sunday Session II: 3 - 5 pm

 

Russian Face, directed and written by Tamar Rachkovsky asks the question, Is it possible to be an artist and a good parent simultaneously?


St. Paul
, directed by Thien Nguyen tells the story of a man after being blinded for 3 days, whose vision provides an insight to a new dimension of reality, one vastly different to the common man.

 

The End of Blessing, directed by John Rice and written by Jim Daniel follows an African American cyclist on his weekly Sunday ride past an older Italian couple who sit on their porch after church. This quiet, understated film deals with the nuance of their exchanges as it takes us on a series of uphill journeys that reflect the life journeys of us all.


Fine Dining, a film by Stephen Symth, tells the story of Jack a dull boy, who is stuck working a in call center when he sees an advert offering to teach him how to cook and start his life anew with a former forensic pathologist, Dr Tobias Cox, his whole life is on a plate.

 

Sound Like Silence, directed by Paul Robinson and written by Sashia Dumont portrays the aftermath of a failed bank robbery. Those left behind are forced to cope with impact of the consequences.

 

They Will All Die In Space, directed and written by
Javier Chillon, tells of the starship Tantalus drifting through space. Will the astronauts make it home?
