Chekhov Take Off

An evening of plays by contemporary playwrights adapted from characters and short stories of Anton Chekhov (Russian, 1860-1904).
The Man in a Case by Wendy Wasserstein, based on The Man in a Case by Chekhov.
The Yalta Game by Brian Friel, based on a theme in Chekhov’s The Lady with the Lapdog.
Swan Song, Vera Gottlieb’s translation of Chekhov’s adaptation of his short story Kalkhas.
Afterplay (2002) by Brian Friel, a one-act play in which Sonya from Uncle Vanya and Andrey from The Three Sisters meet in a deserted dining room of a Moscow hotel in the 1920s.
Directed by Gayle Hudson.
The cast for this evening includes Eddie Allen*, Olga Bogdanova, Lora Lee Ecobelli*, Sarah-Jane Fawcett, Sam Reilly, Fred Rueck, James Shearwood* and Roger Simon*.
* These actors are appearing through the courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), the labor union that represents American actors and stage managers in the theatre.
