Creating Op Art and Pop Art

This new class for children aged 5-12 will focus on Pop Art, Op Art, and Abstract Expressionism. Pop Art is typically made from commercial items and cultural icons such as advertisements and celebrities. Op Art stimulates action in the eye by playing visual tricks. Children's artwork will be inspired by M.C. Escher, Roy Lichtenstein, Wassily Kandinsky, Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Bridget Riley, Jackson Pollack, Keith Haring, David Hockney and other modern artists.

About the Instructor
Mary Schreiber
Mary Schreiber holds an M.S. from Bank Street College of Education. She has led classes for both adults and children in collage, mask-making, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Her art work incorporates various media, including sculpture, drawing and puppetry.
