YOCOTO - Summer Concert #4

Friday, July 25, at 7:00 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Immerse yourself in the vibrant beats and melodies of this dynamic 5-member band hailing from the heart of Brooklyn. YOTOCO seamlessly blends the enchanting sounds of the Puerto Rican Cuatro Guitar with the electrifying rhythms of Afro-Caribbean Folklore, Son Cubano, Cumbia, Salsa, and Plena.

Diversity is the heartbeat of YOTOCO, with members from varied backgrounds infusing the band with a unique sound and innovative approach to traditional styles. Natalia Pérez, a captivating lead singer originally from Cali, Colombia, with ancestral ties to Yotoco in Valle del Cauca, not only lends her enchanting vocals but also sets the rhythm ablaze with her masterful güiro playing. Sebastián López, a self-taught bassist, composer, lead singer, and band leader from Medellin, Colombia, adds layers of depth with his captivating songwriting and commanding stage presence.

From the misty mountains of Corozal, Puerto Rico, emerges Geo Caldero, a skilled Cuatro and Plena drum player. As a co-lead singer, he crafts original poetic décimas—traditional 10-stanza poems in Jíbaro music— intricately weaving tales that tug at the heartstrings. His nostalgic lyrics breathe life into YOTOCO's performances, transporting audiences to the very heart of the Caribbean.

Rounding out the powerhouse rhythm section are Gabo Tomasini on congas, a founding member of the renowned salsa band BioRitmo, and Gianni Mano on timbales, also the bandleader of the innovative Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra. Together, Gabo & Gianni create one of the tightest duos in the New York City Latin music scene, ensuring that your feet have no choice but to dance throughout the show!

YOTOCO's soulful harmonies, original lyrics and melodies, along with pulsating rhythms are pioneering a refreshing sound in Latin music, captivating audiences with every note. There latest album is Amanecio.
