First Program of 2024 Midhat Serbagi Classical Music Series

 

Kayoung An, piano. “Passionate,” “expressive,” “bold,” and “sensitive:'' This is how critics glowingly.described pianist Kayoung An’s performance with the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie at the Seoul Arts Center. “Along with elegance, she has fire”.(Music Review, August 2017). She toured in Korea with Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie in 2017 and performed with renowned orchestras such as the, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonians, Amadeo Philharmonic Society, Bar Harbor Festival String Orchestra, and Contemporary Repertoire Orchestras and. Morning Heights Chamber Orchestra.

 

Kayoung An has appeared extensively throughout the United States, Korea, Canada, Italy, and Russia. As an international award winner, Kayoung An made her solo debut at Weill Carnegie Recital Hall in 2013, and her performances have been widely broadcast on KBS Classic FM (Musical Common Ground), KBS-TV (Music AnchorDesk), Cogeco TV, and Belfast Community Radio (WBFY 100.9). An has been interviewed by the Bar Harbor Music Festival, Netherlands’s Luister, Korea’s Music Today and Music Journal, and the East Hampton Star.

 

Kayoung An completed a recording of renowned composer Bernard Hoffer’s Chamber Music, titled “Kayoung An and Friends Play Bernard Hoffer.” Her recording.was published by Albany Records (2023). It featured the Morningside Heights Chamber Orchestra under the baton of David Gilbert, former assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. During her dedicated musical career, she was fortunate to work with prominent conductors such as Gábor Hontvári, Lawrence Golan, Francis Fortier. An has been on the piano and chamber music pre-college faculty at the Manhattan School of Music since 2022.
 

 

The Midhat Serbagi Classical Music Program has been a part of Arts on the Lake's offerings for over 15 years.  We are proud of the quality of the artists we have been able to bring to our area. We can not do this with out the support of the Friends of Classical Music who have donated generously over the years.  This concert will be a fundraiser for this series so we ask that you join the Friends group. Membership includes all the concerts in the series as well as a special reception to be announced.  

 

This first concert of the 2024 Seatson will be held at Arts on the Lake.
