Fireworks Night - Rufus E. Jones, Jr. with New Young Blues Band Orchestra - Diane Scanlon Opening

The Lake Carmel Fireworks and music night have been a  destination event for many years. This year we bring true American blues roots music to our outdoor stage with Rufus Jones Jr. and his excellent  band.

 

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, he brings a potent mix of dynamic guitar skills, impeccable Memphis-style blues, soul, and spiritual phrasing, and a majestic emotional vocal resonance. These are all a testament to his relentless dedication to his craft and his respect for the great American blues songbook of the 20th century.

 

Mr. Jones' talents as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter have made him a sought after performer by corporations, non-profits, private events and the greater Westchester County, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts communities. He has has captivated audiences at venues including: MASS MoCA's FreshGrass Festival, and the historic Colonial Theatre , and Egremont Barn in The Berkshires.

Introduction Performances - Lakeside Chorus

As a special treat, the newly formed the Lakeside a capella Chorus will be performing This Land is Your Land and another favorite to open up this evening of celebrating America.

 

Opening Performer - Diane Scanlon 

Following the Chorus, will be Diane Scanlon, Diane is a Grammy Award winning producer and composer. Her songs have been sung by platinum-selling recording artist Eva Cassidy and Tramaine Hawkins as well as Darlene Love, Laura Branigan, Antigone Rising to name a few. Peermusic and Kobalt Music currently administers her extensive music catalog.

 

Diane creates music that moves with ease and confidence from sultry soul to folk-blues. She attracts listeners of all persuasions by combining melodic folk melodies with the emotional gut and fire of “blue-eyed soul. For her Arts on the Lake show she will be performing an unplugged version of songs from her albums as well as covers.

 

As a songwriter, Diane’s catalog moves comfortably through many genres. Her songs have been sung by Eva Cassidy, Laura Branigan, Tramaine Hawkins as well other hard working indie bands. Her work with Eva Cassidy’s CD “Songbird”, which climbed to #1 on Amazon’s folk chart earned her gold and platinum records, Tramaine’s single “Who’s Gonna Carry You” led the CD “Higher Ground” to a Grammy nomination. She also composed music for audio books with “Gashouse Productions” which led to a Grammy in 1998.

 

She has produced three CDs and her catalogs are with Peermusic and Kolbalt Music.
 

CONCERT and FIREWORKS INFORMATION

This is an outdoor concert on our Boyd Family Concert Lawn next to Lake Carmel. Bring your lawn chairs, drink and food. Some refreshments will be available.  The "doors" open at at 5 PM with music starting at 5:45.

 

Parking is limited especially so plan to arrive early and consolidate cars. The police will be guiding and restricting traffic as the night gets closer to the time for fireworks. Once you are here, you will not be able to leave very easily until after the fireworks. 

 

There is NO better place to watch the fireworks than here, we are directly across from where they are launched.

 

Tickets are $10 and are available on-line (See button above) and at the door. Music is rain or shine! There is a rain date for fireworks on June 30
