A Film, a talk, and discussion with sculptor Mike Keropian
Filmmaker Jeff Hodges and Mike Keropian have collaborated to present a short documentary about the extensive process of creating the Sachem Daniel Nimham sculpture that was recently installed in Fishkill.
Keropian, a long time member of AotL and resident of Kent, is a noted realistic sculptor who has created numerous commissioned works across the country. He has been working on this project for many years. His extensive historical research and meticulous authentic details make this large scale sculpture a moving testament to the local Native American hero. The film, about an hour long, was culled from over 20 hours of footage. It begins at his studio in Kent and shows the process of creation from a small maquette to the large 8’ bronze pubic work created at a foundry.
This event is being held to help raise awareness and funds concerning the placement of such a work in Kent. The evening will include discussion with the artist.
Although the event is free we will respectfully be requesting donations to further the cause of having a sculpture placed in Kent.
