August Summer Concert Series: Monkeytown Milk Spillers
Friday, August 19, 2022 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
The Monkeytown Milk Spillers play an unusual amalgam of early jazz, cabaret, vintage glam, and punk rock. Their hometown of Brewster, NY has provided plenty of inspiration: The members met at the Brewster Fall Festival. Many of their songs are inspired by the town's unusual history, full of circuses, disasters, and unexplained phenomena.
Their name was derived from the Monkeytown area of Brewster, where local circus pioneers kept their primates during the off season, and the Borden Condensed Milk Factory, part of which still stands on Main Street.
Members Consist of:
Jill Paxton - Vocals
Daniel Basiletti - Trumpet / Accordion
Roderick Cumming - Guitar
Brittany Carrasco - Drums
They've realized that the longer and deeper you look at things, the stranger they often become. The Milk Spillers have applied idea to their music by taking rollicking good-time music and giving it a vein of something a bit weirder. For this show at Arts on the Lake, the Milk Spillers are joined by bassist Brian Crouse.
