2022 Summer Concert Series - Vaneese Thomas

Friday, July 15, 2022 at 7:00 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Blues, R&B

"Fight the Good Fight"

Memphis Soul and R & B singer, Vaneese Thomas, returns to the Arts on the Lake Summer Concert Series, July 15 at 7 PM. Daughter of the legendary Rufus Thomas, Vaneese is highly regarded within the music industry as a singer, songwriter, and producer. She has worked with the renowned recording producer Phil Ramone and has sung with an astonishing array of internationally known performers including Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton and numerous others.

Embracing her remarkable musical legacy, Vaneese carries forward the rich heritage of Memphis Soul and R&B, a music that has touched several generations and has crossed many divides. At the same time, Thomas has combined all the influences of her background and experience (R&B, gospel, blues, and jazz), cultivating a soul-stirring style that she calls her own. Fight the Good Fight, Vaneese Thomas’ new album on Blue Heart Records, represents the culmination of an amazingly diverse career for the youngest member of Memphis’ first family of soul. Its bracing blend of Memphis-style R&B, Americana, and other roots genres sets the album well apart from anything else currently on the contemporary market, underscoring Vaneese’s status as a highly innovative performer.

The outdoor concerts are offered on a pay-as-you-wish basis and take place in our newly landscaped concert area thanks to the generosity of Henry and Julie Boyd and family.
