Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Alex Shundi Examines Important Artists, presenting elements of their lives and attitudes.

In this six part lecture series, which begins March 21 at 7 PM, Alex Shundi explores the work, lives and attitudes of many important artists.  He has been writing about the themes that thread through their lives, creative struggles and perspectives on expressing through their arts.

"They are my take, seen from a perspective of both a historical analysis, and my experience in making art my entire life. I intend to offer a view that comes from within, that is conditioned by the actual triumphs and struggles that accompany the explorative and expressive arts – the journey in the act of creation and the poetry of seeing and imagining."

These lectures are based on these writings, accompanied by images of the work, are designed not only to inform and "explain" their art, but also to analyze it in depth, while presenting elements of their lives and attitudes.

"The work we will examine will inevitably be a strategic summary of their usually huge creative output, chosen to summarize their efforts and discoveries."

The artists will be from many different nationalities and time periods. For some Shundi will have personal recollections of experiences with them.

The series of six lectures are presented on Monday evenings on the ZOOM platform from 7 to 8 PM.  They usually tend to run over by approximately 15 minutes and we often add a session to cover more material. They are recorded and the sessions available shortly after each session. Links are provided for the lectures on the day of the session.
