Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

This "living newspaper" depicts the conditions that produce housing proverty.

Its title taken from Roosevelt's second inaugural address, "One-Third" became controversial because it quoted the words from actual Senate debates and the facts from bills being voted on in Congress.

"After all, a man's got to sleep somewhere," says "Man" in the play.

Produced by the Federal Theatre Project with a cast of almost 100 out-of-work actors in 1938, our reading will make use of as many actors and community members as we can, possibly including latecomers to the event.

About the Event

This project is made possible, in part, through the Putnam Arts Council’s Arts Link Grant Program with public funds provided through the NY State Council on the Arts with support from the Governor and the NY State Legislature.
