Global Water Dances - Dancing for Safe Water Everywhere
Saturday, June 15, 2019 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Local Celebration joining a world wide event
Dancers, Musicians
A world-wide dance performance.
Saturday afternoon, June 15th, 2019 at 3 PM, dancers Erin Jennings and Marie Carstens, co-founders of the Putnam Dance Project, will be leading local participation in an International event, Global Water Dances - Dancing for Safe Water Everywhere.
Water Dances will be a performance at Arts on the Lake that brings art and advocacy together focusing on environmental issues, particularly clean water. This is especially pertinent for Lake Carmel and the many other nearby lakes and surrounding communities. Dancers and others around the world at over 170 sites will be participating in their own areas both live and virtually on line. This is the link to the Global Site. – Global Water Dances – Dancing for Safe Water Everywhere.
In heading this project, Marie and Erin aim to involve our community in the production. Both are former professional dancers who started the Putnam County Dance Project with sponsorship by the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition and the Putnam County Arts Council
Already participating in the event are musician Pierre de Gaillande who will be composing and playing music for one section of the performance and the Kent Elementary chorus, which is slated to sing along with a showing of Kent students’ artwork. The final dance segment of the hour-long performance is a “movement choir” in which viewers get to participate in simple movements choreographed on the idea of clean water. Marie and Erin will be choreographing and dancing with 3 other professional modern dancers who have signed on for the project
Donations to support the Putnam Dance Project and Arts on the Lake are gratefully accepted.
Putnam County DANCE Project is sponsored by Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition. This project is made possible in part through Putnam County Arts Council’s Arts Link’s Grant with public funds from Putnam County.
