Friends of Classical Music Inaugural Event
The 2018 Season of The Friends of Classical Music begins with a panoply of music written from the 13th through 17th centuries.This music lead up to Vivaldi and Bach and was played in the time of William Shakespeare, King Henry IV, and the Renaissance. The program includes peasant dances to music for the King's supper.
The concert will be June 24 at 3 pm at Arts on the Lake.
Players include of two of the great recorder players of our time - Ralph Zeitlin and Deborah Booth. They will be joined on the guitar by Steve Leonard, Midhat Serbagi on viola and the Donnaruma String Quartet. Dr. Paul Kreiger and his wife Barbara will join in on period instruments and share their extensive knowledge of and passion for music of this period.
The program will include works by these composers include:
Josquin des Pres
Susato
Gervaise
William Byrd
Thomas Morley
John Dowland
and the ubiquitous Anonymous
