Lecture and Workshop
Arts on the Lake offers a free lecture and workshop led by art therapist Rosemarie Rogers. Ms. Rogers, a New York State Licensed and Board Certified Art Therapist, is also an artist and photographer. It has also been long recognized that involvement in the creative arts has a powerful healing effect. Art therapy is one of four approaches (drama, music, dance and art) under the umbrella of Creative Arts Therapies.
Arts on the Lake would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation to the many people who have given so generously in memory of Bobby Doherty and have made the Lecture and workshop on "The Healing Power of the Creative Arts" possible.
About the Event
Ms. Rogers described how art therapy provides both a nonverbal way for people to communicate how they feel and a springboard to help individuals understand and discover important aspects of their personality that may otherwise be too difficult or too painful to express verbally. Over 20 people who were interested in learning more about their own creative processes stayed after the lecture to participate in a hands-on art workshop. No prior art experience was necessary.
