Delving into the world of painting

Next Sesssion begins Nov 4th

This class introduces students to the world of painting for both beginners and intermediate students. Taught by Elizabeth Hill, a professional painter and teacher, the class environment is a highly supportive environment with much individual instruction.

This is a 6 class session that meets on Mondays from 1:30 to 4:30. Hill also introduces students to different artist's work each week for further historical understanding. The next session of this class begins September 9. You can register using the button in the upper right of this page. If you have questions  or concerts please email office@artsonthelake.org.

Participants love this class. Class sizes are small. Elizabeth has transformed a number of people's confidence and capability through her gentle way of teaching and showing. This class can both introduce students to the world of painting and enhance the skills and vision of those already captured by the challenge of expressing oneself through color and form.

"This class is an introduction to the world of painting. We will explore various methods of approaching an image: technical, formal, and conceptual. We will reference art history for inspiration and to understand the function of art. We will also address setting up your palette, understanding color, and the importance of developing a composition. All levels are welcome."
