HER NATURE at Putnam Arts Council

Wendy Isler Alvarez, Pallas Athene, Patricia Bolgosano, and Amanda Lynne O’Shaughnessy are HER NATURE, an art exhibit which continues, 1-5 daily, at the Belle Levine Art Center in Mahopac through Monday, November 11. 

Press Release: Arts on the Lake Presents the Alexander String Quartet at Tilly Foster

The internationally-noted Alexander String Quartet will play an all-Brahms concert in the Lodge at Tilly Foster Farm on Saturday, November 16, at 8pm. Presented by the Friends of Classical Music of Arts on the Lake, this performance marks the return of the Alexander to Carmel, following a sold out concert of Mozart and Shostakovich in November 2010. Press Release: “Brewster” Author Mark Slouka to Meet Readers at Arts on the Lake

Arts on the Lake is partnering with the Kent Public Library to present “A Conversation with Mark Slouka” on Sunday, October 27, at the Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52, at 3 pm. Paul Austin as KrappPaul Austin will bring Samuel Beckett’s “Krapp’s Last Tape” to Arts on the Lake, 640 Route 52, Lake Carmel, for two performances, Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, at 8 pm. Part of the output of plays, screenplays, poetry and fiction of Nobel Laureate Samuel Beckett, the play “Krapp’s Last Tape” presents a 69-year-old man celebrating his birthday by reassessing a passage in his life from 30 years before, captured via a tape recorder. Press Release: Photographer Casaburi to Offer Video Workshop at AotL

Photographer Chris Casaburi is scheduled to lead “Learn Basic Video Editing,” at Arts on the Lake, 640 Route 52, Lake Carmel, on Sunday, October 20, 3 – 5 pm. Casaburi, who is the head of the Photo Group at AotL, has produced award-winning shorts in several recent film festivals. Press Release: Tom Chapin To Perform with Friends at Arts on the Lake

America’s singer/songwriter Tom Chapin will perform with friends at Arts on the Lake on Friday, July 12, at 7 pm.

In a career with 23 albums and three Grammy awards, Tom Chapin began performing professionally as a teenager in the early 1960s alongside his siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers. After launching a recording career and playing the lead role in the Broadway musical Pump Boys and Dinettes in the late 80’s, Chapin branched out into family music with the album Family Tree. Read full press release.

Press Release: Cajun Rock Band Swamp Gumbo to Perform at Arts on the Lake

The locally-grown and NYC-bred band Swamp Gumbo will close the Summer Concert Series at Arts on the Lake, 640 Route 52, Lake Carmel, Friday, July 26, at 7 pm. Led by keyboardist Jon Cobert, singer/songwriter Kati Mac and trumpeter Tim Ouimette, Swamp Gumbo has a New York following from its performances at 78 Below in Manhattan and a local following from performances at the Mohansic Grill in Yorktown Heights and North Star in Pound Ridge.

Arts on the Lake’s Summer Concert Series will open with the bluegrass band Too Blue on Friday, July 5, at 7 pm.
The first Friday night concert will be followed consecutively by Tom Chapin and Friends on July 12, Back to the Garden 1969 on July 19 and Swamp Gumbo on July 26.
