Art Alfresco - A new children's art class.

Mary Schreiber will be holding in July a special 4 day children's art class based on working with natural material.  For more info.

Summer Concert Series Starts July 4th

The annual Summer Concert Series begins this July with Back to the Garden 1969 on July 4, followed by Jon Pousette Dart on July 11, Gil Paris with Curtis Winchester on July 18, and the Old Town Hall Band on July 25. These outdoor concerts are from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the north lawn at the center. In case of rain we hold them inside the Arts Center. Our Summer Concert Series remains pay-what-you-wish for all four vents.

Just Jim Dale at Roundabout in NYC

Arts on the Lake patrons will notice that Just Jim Dale, now at the Roundabout Theatre in NYC, includes material lovingly developed earlier in Still Carrying On and subsequent AotL appearances, most recently as a surprise guest at Tonight, We Dance, the fund-raising party last September. Tix for Kent neighbor Just Jim Dale are available through August 10.

Grant Opportunity for Visual Artists - Deadline next week!

Grant Opportunity: Information for a grant opportunity for visual artists has recently been provided to us. Artist, Eric Arctaner, was a long time resident of Putnam Valley and board member of the Putnam Arts Council. A grant has been established to honor him with the purpose of assisting a visual artist in their career. Deadline for entries is June 13, 2014. For further information please see this announcement.

Schreiber and Shearwood Join in Library Stories at Arts on the Lake

Stalwarts of Arts on the Lake, artist Mary Schreiber and director James Shearwood are both contributing acts to “Library Stories,” which will be presented at the Lake Carmel Arts Center Friday, Saturday, May 2, 3 at 8 pm and Sunday, May 4, at 3 pm.

Schreiber who teaches art at the Center has created a puppet play based on Robert Burns’ “Tam O’Shanter” with a cast of 11 puppets operated by 9 actors. Shearwood has created sketches, interviewed original founders of the Kent Library and will bring his character “Ralph” to the proceedings.

The 2014 Friends Of Classical Music Season Starts on a High Note

On Sunday, March 30th, Classical Guitarist David Starobin gave a well-received performance in the historic home of George Whipple III on Lake Gleneida. The event was sold out well in advance of the concert and as a result of the performance, Friends of Classical Music now has a record number of “Friends” totaling 38. This concert was the first in the FCM 2014 Series of four public performances scheduled for this year. For more information on upcoming Friends of Classical Music events click here.

Imagination Station II - Building begins next week.

Construction on the Imagination Station is about to begin. From June 11th to the 15th volunteers are needed to help in this important community project  to rebuild the playground at Kent Primary School.  Arts on the Lake has been asked to find people who could work on the "artistic aspects" as well.  If you are good with a paintbrush, a hammer or can simply help out, please represent AotL and join in to make this project happen. Zumba Classes have new times.

Corrie Russinko has started a new session with new times for her Zumba and Zumba Toning classes.

New Intensive Painting Class

An early Spring session of Alex Shundi's Intensive Painting class is starting March 4th. Students may join at any time.The class is designed for both advanced and beginning students regardless of disciplines chosen: landscape, figure, still life, abstract, etc.
