Intensive Painting Workshop
This class is designed for painting students who have an interest in developing their abilities and expanding their conceptual understanding of abstract painting and its fundamental origins. Students will be encouraged to explore their own personal "language" of abstraction, and all painting mediums and formats are welcome. In depth class discussion of the simplification of form, "Cubism", figurative abstraction, and field painting will be included as part of our exploration of modern art. The paintings of Cezanne will mark the beginning of our inspiring journey. Other masters on the path will include Matisse, Picasso, Kandinsky, Mondrian, Pollock, and Rothko, to name a few.
The Reflectionist, a cooperative of artists formed by the students of Alexander Shundi and Susan Ferri, exhibits twice a year. More information on the artists and the exhibits, which feature written dialogue between the artists the viewers, can be found at www.reflectionist.org.
